Utah LPN Continuing Education Requirements

Utah LPNs must meet continuing competency requirements during the two-year period immediately preceding license renewal.
An LPN may meet the requirement by completing ONE of the following:
✓ 400 hours of licensed nursing practice; OR
✓ 200 hours of licensed nursing practice plus 15 contact hours of approved continuing education; OR
✓ 30 contact hours of approved continuing education.
Renewing licensees must complete at least one of the pre-approved online suicide prevention trainings available through the Utah Division of Professional Licensing.

Utah Administrative Rule R156-31b-102 defines “approved continuing education” to include continuing education approved by any state board of nursing.
