North Dakota LPN Continuing Education Requirements

LVN Learning Institute is a California BVNPT-approved continuing education provider. North Dakota recognizes continuing education offered by approved providers, including providers approved by a health care regulatory board.

North Dakota LPNs must complete:

✓ 12 contact hours of approved continuing education during each two year license renewal period.

The continuing education must be completed within the preceding two years.

✓ Contact hours cannot be carried over from one renewal period to the next.

Exception: Nurses who obtained their initial North Dakota license by examination are not required to complete additional continuing education before the first renewal because the requirement is considered satisfied through their nursing education. Nurses initially licensed in North Dakota by endorsement must complete the required 12 contact hours for renewal.

There is no general requirement that an LPN complete a specific mandatory subject course as part of the 12 contact hours.

CE Broker is not required for North Dakota. The North Dakota Board of Nursing states that continuing education audits are managed through its internal licensing system. CE Broker may be used voluntarily for personal recordkeeping, but its use is optional and is not monitored by the Board.
