Arkansas LPNs with an active nursing license must meet continuing education requirements during each renewal period.

An Arkansas LPN may satisfy the continuing education requirement by completing ONE of the following:

✓ 15 practice-focused contact hours from a nationally recognized or state continuing education approval body recognized by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN); OR

✓ Certification or recertification during the renewal period by a national certifying body recognized by ASBN; OR

✓ An academic course in nursing or a related field.

For LPNs choosing the continuing education option, the required contact hours must be completed during the applicable renewal period. Continuing education hours beyond the required amount cannot be carried over to the next renewal period.
